Southampton Theory Test Centre Directions
Car
Southampton’s testing venue is located within Anglo City House, which is located on Shirley Road just on the western outskirts of the city centre. Southampton is primarily serviced by the M27, which loops around its eastern and northern perimeter. The west side of the city is accessible via the M271; Anglo City House is near to the Mountbatten Way dual carriageway, which offers a direct connection to this motorway.
Parking
There are a number of local parking options, primarily heading east back towards the city centre. Southbrook Road offers two appropriate sites (North & South), both within a few hundred metres of the venue. If using one of these car parks, we would recommend purchasing a two-hour parking ticket, as this will provide enough coverage to travel to Anglo City House, conduct your test, and then return to your vehicle.
A two-hour parking slot will cost £2.50 from either facility, with all payment types accepted (the PayByPhone service line is also in operation). However, please note that disabled parking is only accommodated at Southbrook Road South, where electronic vehicle charging is also available.
To reach the test centre, please head west on Southbrook Road, and then utilize the cut-through next to Mats Car Repair garage to progress towards the venue.
Alternative parking sites within close proximity of the test centre can be found here.
Bus
There are a number of bus services that travel into the Shirley area of Southampton, which is the district where Anglo City House is based. When planning your route, we would recommend searching for the following bus numbers: 17, 18, 4, 7, 2, 3, and U6H. All of these transit lines have scheduled stops within walking distance of the test site.
Train
Southampton gives host to several train stations, with the largest and most well-connected being Southampton Central, located to the south-west of the city. Fortunately, this station is just over 300m south-east of Anglo City House.
The onwards journey to the venue involves a straightforward walk, navigating Central Station Bridge before advancing north-west on the A3057 towards the test site. This route should take no longer than five minutes to complete.
